TRANSITION SLOWS FED ACTION

Federal agencies are in mid-transition mode right now with “landing teams” on the ground at each agency representing the incoming Administration.   Teams both want to know what agencies are up to and begin to outline strategic priorities moving forward.  In addition to multiple discussions and briefings by senior career officials, agencies are also saying good-bye to an increasing number of political appointees.  This requires careerists to wear even more hats than usual.  All of this action is taking a toll on federal business and we haven’t even gotten to the on-boarding of appointees.  December is becoming an especially difficult time to meet with federal officials.  This can all leave federal contractors amazingly frustrated.  Unfortunately, this process will last at least until February – and in some cases longer.  The transition doesn’t have to mean that all business activity shuts down, but your business should calibrate to adjust to the temporary reality.
