PLENTY FOR CONTRACTORS TO LIKE IN SPENDING BILL
Funding for border security, DOD weapon systems, and NIH medical research will go up under the omnibus appropriations measure passed by Congress this week. The spending bill funds the government through the end of FY’17 and allows for new project starts that require appropriated dollars. In addition to broad initiatives, cyber spending is another winner. The Executive Office of the President, Treasury, and DOD are all slated to see more cyber dollars. Even the EPA escaped relatively unscathed, with only a token cut. Service and technology contractors will have both prime and partner opportunities. In areas where spending is specifically targeted, such as border protection and weapons system development, working as part of a team may be the best approach. Logistics, technology services, and sub-componentry will all be part of delivering enhanced border security and fighter deployment, for example. Make sure you know what’s in the bill for you.
