GSA CREATES NEW TRANSFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SERVICE

In an attempt to coordinate transformational IT and IT acquisition solutions inside its agency, GSA has created the brand new Technology Transformation Service (TTS).  Comprised of the Office of Citizen Services and IT Solutions, GSA’s 18F innovation lab, and their Presidential Fellows program, TTS is intended to provide assistance to agencies seeking truly leading-edge IT solutions.  No part of GSA’s Information Technology Service, which still houses the GSA IT Schedule, Alliant, Assisted Acquisition Services, and other contract-related functions is part of the move.  In fact, it is likely that the new service will have to rely on ITS contracts in order to execute customer demands.  As such, IT contractors need to know both Services.  Developmental technologies and prototypes are examples of things new the Service will likely be interested in from contractor partners.  Innovative acquisition ideas, under the broad umbrella of Other Procurement Authority, will also be welcomed.  The new Service will be smaller in size than either of GSA’s other two Services, so contractors will want to apportion effort accordingly.  Still, if you were looking for a place in government to try out that new IT idea, TTS may be your place.  The original GSA announcement is attached for more information.
